Airfare in Kazakhstan may decline following lower jet fuel prices. This was announced by Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev, commenting on measures to reduce the price of jet fuel. He noted that jet fuel accounts for up to 40% of the cost of a flight, and to develop transit potential, the country needs to approach the prices of major aviation hubs. The government has been instructed to gradually reduce fuel prices at Kazakhstani airports to make them more competitive and attractive to airlines.

The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan has adopted a systemic decision aimed at increasing the competitiveness of domestic airports and strengthening the country's transit potential. The implementation of a set of government measures to ensure access to airport infrastructure and reduce the tax burden has enabled the specialized aviation fuel operator, KazMunayGas-Aero LLP (a subsidiary of JSC NC KazMunayGas), to offer international airlines fundamentally new terms.
