Citizens are complaining about limited transport accessibility to popular tourist destinations. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has instructed that the number of rail and air services to Kazakhstan’s resort areas be increased at affordable prices.
He noted that Kazakh citizens are submitting complaints regarding limited transport accessibility to both popular and remote tourist destinations.
“Passengers are concerned about the shortage and affordability of air and rail tickets. The Ministry of Transport, together with airlines and Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), should take measures to increase the number of flights and passenger capacity on popular resort routes at reasonable prices,” the Prime Minister said during a government meeting.
Bektenov also added that during peak season, there is a severe shortage of accommodation for tourists in the country. Many people are forced to use undeveloped or unprepared recreation areas. In this regard, he instructed regional governors to urgently provide infrastructure for parking areas or designated sites for camping with tents and motorhomes.
“In conclusion, I would like to draw attention to an important point. In countries with a highly developed tourism sector, the quality of holidays is determined not only by the comfort of hotels or the variety of routes and excursion programs, but also by the professionalism of staff who work with guests on a daily basis. This also applies to the level of hospitality of the local population. I instruct the Ministry of Tourism, together with regional administrations and tourism companies, to place greater emphasis on improving the quality of tourist services. It is this factor that directly influences the attractiveness of the industry and the country’s image,” the head of government concluded.
