During a working visit, Vice Minister of Transport Talgat Lastayev inspected Shymkent Airport, where construction of a new runway has commenced.
Particular attention during the visit was paid to meeting construction deadlines, ensuring the quality of works, and maintaining effective coordination among all project participants.
The project предусматривает not only a new runway but also the development of the necessary infrastructure, including taxiways, ICAO Category III airfield lighting systems, emergency and rescue services, engineering networks, and perimeter fencing.
Upon completion, the airport will operate two runways, which will significantly increase flight capacity, expand international routes, and ensure uninterrupted operations even in adverse weather conditions.
In addition, the project will enable the airport to accommodate all types of large cargo aircraft and support the development of Shymkent as a regional cargo hub.
