Saltanat Tompiyeva Holds Meeting with Singapore’s Minister for Transport, Culture, Community and Youth

On the sidelines of the ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium 2026 (GISS-2026) in Marrakech (Morocco), Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ms. Saltanat Tompiyeva, held a meeting with the Minister for Transport, Culture, Community and Youth of the Republic of Singapore, Mr. Baey Yam Keng.The meeting was also attended by the Permanent Representative of Singapore to the ICAO Council, Ms. Eileen Poh; the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to ICAO, Mr. Timur Tlegenov; and the Dean of the Singapore Aviation Academy and Senior Advisor to the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), Mr. Tay Tiang Guan.

The parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in civil aviation, including aviation security, development of aviation infrastructure, and the introduction of modern digital solutions in the sector. They also addressed cooperation within international organizations, including ICAO.

In view of the growing demand for passenger traffic between the two countries, the parties discussed the potential launch of air services, including the use of fifth freedom traffic rights. The Singaporean side noted that Kazakhstan is becoming an increasingly popular destination and expressed interest in developing direct air connectivity and expanding transport accessibility between the countries.

Saltanat Tompiyeva noted that Singapore is one of the world’s leading aviation hubs and emphasized the importance of strengthening partnership and expanding cooperation in the field of aviation training. Cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Singapore Aviation Academy is already yielding tangible results, with Kazakh aviation personnel undergoing training and professional development there. The parties intend to further expand this cooperation by broadening training programs and deepening partnership in aviation human capital development.

Following the meeting, both sides confirmed their mutual interest in further developing cooperation and implementing joint initiatives aimed at enhancing the sustainability and efficiency of the aviation sector.
