Saltanat Tompiyeva Holds Meeting with France’s Permanent Representative to ICAO, Florence Cormon-Veissière

Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Saltanat Tompiyeva, held a meeting with the Permanent Representative of the France to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Florence Cormon-Veyssière.

The meeting was attended by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to ICAO, Timur Tlegenov, as well as representatives of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan JSC — Acting Chief Executive Officer Aslan Satzhanov and Managing director for Flight Safety, Strategy, Standardization and Harmonization Zhanat Abdugalimov.

The parties discussed key issues on the international aviation agenda, including cooperation among States within ICAO, coordination of approaches on priority areas for the development of civil aviation, as well as prospects for deepening strategic cooperation with the ENAC. Particular attention was given to expanding partnership with ENAC in the areas of training, professional development of specialists, and the implementation of advanced practices and technologies.

Issues related to the possible resumption of air services between the two countries were also discussed.

Background information: A legal framework is in place for the operation of scheduled air services between Kazakhstan and France. Prior to the pandemic, Air Astana operated three weekly flights on the Astana - Paris route.

 

Particular attention was also given to aviation security, harmonization of national regulations with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices, and the development of human capital in industry.

Saltanat Tompiyeva emphasized the importance of expanding partnership with France as one of the key players in the global aviation system and highlighted the need to consolidate the efforts of ICAO Member States to ensure the sustainable development of the sector.

Following the meeting, both sides confirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening bilateral cooperation and enhancing collaboration within the International Civil Aviation Organization.
