On the sidelines of the ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium 2026 (GISS-2026) in Marrakech (Morocco), Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Saltanat Tompiyeva, held a meeting with the Director General of Civil Aviation of the Kingdom of Morocco, Tarik Talibi.

The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Morocco, Saulekul Sailaukyzy, and the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Timur Tlegenov.

The parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in civil aviation, including the operation of air services between the two countries, aviation security, improving the effectiveness of state regulation, and the development of aviation infrastructure.

Saltanat Tompiyeva expressed her appreciation to Tarik Talibi for the high level of organization and hosting of ICAO GISS-2026 and requested consideration of the use of fifth freedom traffic rights for flights between Kazakhstan and Morocco, as well as between Morocco and third countries.

In turn, the Moroccan side noted that it would consider this proposal, with the possibility of formalizing it in the future within a Memorandum of Understanding.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness for further cooperation, including facilitating the expansion of air connectivity between the two countries.
