Kazakhstan Expands Aviation Cooperation

On the sidelines of the ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium 2026 (GISS-2026) in Marrakesh, Morocco, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Saltanat Tompiyeva, held a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of the aviation authorities of Denmark, Equatorial Guinea, the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, and the Republic of Indonesia.

The meetings were attended by the Permanent Representative of Denmark to the ICAO Council, Mr. Henrik Ellermann; Secretary of State for Civil Aviation and Airport Infrastructure of Equatorial Guinea, Mr. Pedro Obama Rabago; Minister of Transport, Telecommunications and Digital Economy of Guinea-Bissau, Mr. Florentino Mendes Pereira; and Secretary of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of Indonesia, Mr. Ahmad Setiyo Prabowo. From the Republic of Kazakhstan, Permanent Representative to ICAO, Timur Tlegenov, also took part in the discussions.

During the meetings, the parties discussed current issues related to the development of international cooperation in civil aviation, including collaboration within ICAO, coordination of approaches on key industry priorities, expansion of bilateral air connectivity, ensuring aviation security and flight safety, and improving state regulation in line with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices.

Special attention was given to the development of human capital, exchange of experience and best practices, implementation of international standards, innovation and digitalization, as well as preparation for ICAO audits.

Saltanat Tompiyeva emphasized the importance of consolidating efforts among ICAO Member States to effectively respond to modern challenges and ensure the sustainable development of the global aviation system.

Following the meetings, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening bilateral cooperation, expanding partnerships, and implementing joint initiatives within the ICAO framework.
