The countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus discussed issues of improving the system of protection of civil aviation from acts of unlawful interference

On April 4-5, the second meeting of the coordination group on aviation security is being held in Almaty with the participation of permanent representatives of the aviation authorities of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as a representative of Moldova as an observer.

The Aviation Security Coordination Group was established in 2022 and aims to achieve the key priorities of the ICAO Global Aviation Security Plan and the quality implementation of ICAO standards and recommended practices.

During the meeting, issues related to preparation for the ICAO aviation security audit of the countries participating in the coordination group, harmonization of aviation security legislation will be discussed. In addition, the processes of introducing safety culture and the practice of assessment activities of civil aircraft and airport operators by aviation authorities of neighboring countries will be studied.

The initiative of the Kazakh side to establish the Eurasian Civil Aviation Conference was also brought to the attention of the participants with the intention of transformation the AVSEC CG the into the Security Panel of the EACAC.

The work of the coordination group is another step contributing to good relations and the development of cooperation between the aviation administrations of the participating countries and improving the system of protection of civil aviation from acts of unlawful interference in the framework of the implementation of the ICAO Global Aviation Security Plan.
